Ways to Evangelize by Example at Work

"By living a life that reflects the love, joy, hope, and peace of Christ, you can inspire others to become more curious and explore their own relationship with God".

How might we continue our personal spiritual growth and continue evangelizing others? By living a life that reflects the love, joy, hope, and peace of Christ, you can inspire others to become more curious and explore their own relationship with God. Here are a few ways to live out your faith while at work authentically and share your personal story.

  1. Love Others and Open Conversation

If and when it is appropriate, share aspects of your faith journey (always with love) and share how your faith guides your actions and decisions. Combining your story and sharing it with love can create opportunities to show your love for others and for meaningful conversation. Invite coworkers to church-related events outside of work, retreats, or community service projects. This offers your colleagues a chance to see your faith in action outside the workplace. After establishing trust and a friendship, share books, articles, or podcasts that have inspired you. You can also share inspirational quotes.

  1. Repentance and Humility

Father Mike Schmitz encouraged us at the Eucharistic Revival Congress to return to your “first love”. How do you want to change your life and glorify God in your work? Look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, “what do I need to do differently”? How do you want to change in order to better serve God and others? How can you love better? How are you currently loving others? What is stopping you from loving others and loving God? What is holding you back from offering your best work? Repent and go back to the “heart” of Jesus. Go back to your “why”. Go back to your “first love of Jesus”. Revere, give thanks, and honor the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist by regularly participating in the Eucharist and spending time in weekly Eucharistic Adoration. Deepening your relationship with Christ allows others to see the importance of the Eucharist in your life. Practicing consistent daily prayer like the Daily Examen and make it a visible part of your life, encourages others to do the same.

  1. Lead by Example

Demonstrate your faith through acts of kindness, compassion, and ethical behavior at work and in your daily interactions. Your actions can be a powerful testimony to the presence of Christ in your life. Pursuing excellence in your field through continuous learning and skill development reflects the virtue of magnanimity, Catholic stewardship, and the responsible use of talents. Acknowledge and give thanks to how God is playing a major role in your life and in your work achievements.

  1. Eucharistic Catechesis and Education

Education is key to deepening understanding and devotion to the Eucharist. Read the bible, the Church’s doctrines on the Real Presence, the significance of the Mass, and Eucharistic miracles. Use resources like the Catechism of the Catholic Church, encyclicals, and writings of the saints. Read books, articles, podcasts, and videos focused on Eucharistic devotion. Use social media to share personal experiences of how the Eucharist has impacted your life.

Evangelization in the workplace involves practicing one’s own humility and repentance– going back to your “first love” by spending time with the Eucharist, educating yourself, leading by example, and strengthening relationships. Your positive influence inspires others and lets God use you as a vessel to plant seeds in love for evangelization and cultivate your relationships in the workplace.
