Pray for the Pope

While medical professionals have shared an encouraging and positive outlook given the success of the procedure, any time the Pope faces a health challenge, it naturally brings concern to the universal Church.

Dear TLI family,

“The operation was successful, and there were no complications.” Praise God! Our hearts and minds are turned toward Rome, where the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, is currently hospitalized. As many of you know from recent announcements, the pope was admitted to Gemelli Hospital to undergo a scheduled surgical procedure. During a routine medical checkup, doctors discovered a small, localized lung nodule at a very early stage. It was promptly removed.

While medical professionals have shared an encouraging and positive outlook given the success of the procedure, any time the Pope faces a health challenge, it naturally brings concern to the universal Church. The Holy See Press Office has indicated that his post-operative hospital stay is expected to last roughly a week, with all papal audiences temporarily paused to allow him the necessary peace and space to heal.

In moments like these, the power of our collective faith comes to the forefront. Pope Leo XIV specifically asked the faithful for their spiritual closeness and prayers when he first shared this news during an audience. Today, we are called to answer that request with profound unity, devotion, and love.

Let us join in prayer for the medical team, the nurses, and all the medical personnel at Gemelli Hospital attending to his care, that the Lord may steady their hands, guide their decisions, and grant them wisdom. Furthermore, let us pray for his prompt and smooth recuperation, asking God to restore his strength quickly so that he may resume his vital ministry with renewed vigor and health.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Health of the Sick, wrap her mantle of protection around him, and may our Lord Jesus Christ grant him comfort and healing in the days ahead.

Thank you for keeping our Holy Father in your daily petitions, rosaries, and intentions.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Cristofer Pereyra

Leading with Compassion

Compassion does not mean abandoning high standards permanently; rather, it means applying temperance and wisdom to how those standards are measured during a crisis. Truth and charity must always walk hand in hand.
