Announcing the Official Theme of THL2025: In Illo Uno Unum

This year’s theme is not only deeply theological, but also unmistakably timely. Pope Leo XIV’s choice of motto—his first public gesture of spiritual leadership—calls the global Church to peace, reconciliation, and unity at a moment when these virtues are desperately needed.

Tepeyac Leadership is pleased to announce the theme for The Hour of the Laity 2025 (THL2025): In Illo Uno UnumIn the One Christ, We Are One. This profound expression of unity is drawn from the new motto of Pope Leo XIV and finds its roots in the writings of Saint Augustine, specifically his Exposition on Psalm 128. In those words, Augustine reminds us that “in the one Christ we are one,” and “one in the One Christ.”

"We don't see it as a coincidence that the election of the Pope occurred at the very time our event committee was discerning the theme for this year's THL Conference and shaping the content of our signature summit. At Tepeyac Leadership, we have been deeply moved and filled with hope by the early signs of Pope Leo XIV’s humble leadership and his priorities for the Church," has said Cristofer Pereyra, CEO of Tepeyac Leadership, Inc. (TLI).

This year’s theme is not only deeply theological, but also unmistakably timely. Pope Leo XIV’s choice of motto—his first public gesture of spiritual leadership—calls the global Church to peace, reconciliation, and unity at a moment when these virtues are desperately needed. As Catholic professionals, we are invited to respond with both reflection and action.

Pereyra added, "This is why we have chosen the Pope’s motto—In Illo uno unum, or In the One Christ, We Are One—as THL2025's theme. From now until November, we will be developing keynote topics and panel discussions that reflect and support Pope Leo’s call for unity and priorities—within the Church and throughout the world."

The Hour of the Laity, Tepeyac Leadership’s annual flagship conference, serves as a gathering point for lay Catholic leaders from around the world. It is an event that renews our shared mission to evangelize culture and shape civil society with Gospel values. THL2025 will center its programming on Pope Leo XIV’s early vision for the Church: a Church that is unified not in mere similarity, but in Christ Himself.

The motto In Illo uno unum does more than name a papal aspiration. It is a rallying cry for every lay Catholic who seeks to live out their vocation with integrity in public life. Pope Leo XIV’s early messages emphasize communion over division, spiritual renewal over ideological fragmentation, and faithful witness over fear. Understanding this vision is essential for Catholic professionals who bear the responsibility of leadership in a fractured world.

In this spirit, THL2025 will explore how we can embody unity within diversity—not only within the Church, but in our families, workplaces, communities, and nations. We will reflect on what it means to be “one in the One Christ” while living in pluralistic societies that often pull us away from that unity.

This year’s conference will feature a rich program of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and spiritual formation opportunities. Attendees will hear from thought lay leaders and Church figures who will help us interpret the Holy Father’s vision and implement it in our particular spheres of influence. Above all, THL2025 is a space to be formed, inspired, and sent—to be bridges of unity in a time of division.

As Pope Leo XIV begins his pontificate, lay Catholics must be attentive not only to what he says but to what he hopes to build. By engaging the world through the lens of In Illo uno unum, we will be better equipped to support the Pope and the Church’s mission at large.

Join us for The Hour of the Laity 2025, where we take up this invitation to be one—one in the One Christ—for the renewal of the Church and the transformation of the world.
