Estyn Elan: Elevating Humanity's Style and Spirit

As the Tepeyac Leadership Gala nears, we had the opportunity to sit down with Estyn Elan, the event's master of ceremonies. We spoke with her about her background, her current involvement with Tepeyac Leadership, and her aspirations as a lay Catholic leader in civil society. Here's what she told us.

"The TLI program was an answer to my prayers. As an adult convert, spending nine months in RCIA just wasn't enough!"

Estyn, please share a little bit about your professional trajectory and your area of expertise for those who may not know you.

My professional career began to develop in my early childhood. I grew up sewing alongside my mother, and the passion for fashion has been passed down through several generations. I studied at some of the best fashion schools the U.S. has to offer and have won several awards throughout my career, which encouraged me to persist. I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with established celebrities and see my designs featured on billboards, television, and in films, as well as on everyday passers-by. I also trained in the performing arts, won a beauty pageant, and performed at the renowned Hollywood Bowl. The time I spent living in Europe, where I became a mother, was the catalyst that shifted my work toward serving others.

How did you come into contact with Tepeyac Leadership? What was it like going through the TLI program?

As a mother and entrepreneur, managing daily operations from home is essential. In the process of implementing online marketing strategies, I connected with Cristofer Pereya and learned about the Tepeyac Leadership Initiative program (TLI). The program was an answer to my prayers. As an adult convert, spending nine months in RCIA just wasn't enough! TLI provided me with the additional Catholic faith formation and community that I needed. I am truly grateful to all the contributors.

What changed after the program? And what are you working or focusing on now?

After the program, I am committed to serving as a lay Catholic leader. I have gained greater clarity about my values, my strengths, and my character. I have a clearer understanding of how to live joyfully. I now have a verbal shield and sword to defend my faith. I have made new friends and connections, for which I am very grateful. I have a whole new community. My focus is on elevating the style, spirit, and sophistication of mankind.

What is the importance of lay Catholic leadership for the world?

Lay Catholic leadership is important for the salvation of souls. God incarnated as a man to teach others and show the way as a human. We must follow His example! Many people are living in the darkness of self-loathing, depression, greed, and hostility. Catholic leaders can fearlessly show the way toward inner peace and joy, no matter what hardships we may face. Many people in the secular world have a terrible misconception of what it means to be Catholic. As leaders, we can demonstrate what it truly means to be Catholic.

Why should people attend the Tepeyac Leadership Gala?

Attend the Tepeyac Leadership Gala to take advantage of the opportunity to break from the daily grind. Come celebrate life in motion! Catholics worldwide are an incredibly strong community, and this is an excellent opportunity to put on some nice clothes, feel good about yourself, and contribute to a truly worthy organization. Come and talk with other good people, in the name of Jesus Christ our Almighty God. Let’s come together to change the world.

“By promising to separate the two subjects,” Frémont said, “François Bayrou is showing that he has grasped what is at stake in this debate. This will ensure that palliative care is not used as an excuse to legalize administered death in France.”
